Frequently asked questions

What are the typical eligibility minimums for an SG SME business loan?
Bank route: typically 2+ years operating history, SGD 300k–500k annual revenue, Singapore-incorporated entity, director PG. Alt-lender route: typically 6–12 months operating history, lower revenue thresholds, often unsecured up to a cap. EFS additionally requires ≥30% local shareholding. Each lender sets its own thresholds; the lender's product page is authoritative.
Can a Newly Incorporated Company (NIC, <2 years old) get a business loan?
Yes but options are narrower. Routes include EnterpriseSG's EFS young-enterprise track via participating banks, alt-lenders with newer-business appetite (Aspire, Funding Societies, Bizcap), and director-guaranteed personal credit. Expect higher rates and tighter security.
Do I need a personal guarantee from the directors?
Most SG SME loans require a director PG, regardless of bank or alt-lender. Larger secured facilities (e.g. commercial property loans) may rely less on PG. Sole-prop and partnership structures effectively carry unlimited personal liability anyway.
What documents do SG SMEs typically need for a business loan?
Most lenders ask for: ACRA business profile (BizFile), bank statements for the past 3–12 months, financial statements (filed accounts), GST returns if applicable, NOA for directors, and a brief description of the loan purpose. EFS-backed loans also need confirmation of ≥30% local shareholding. Documentation requirements are set by each lender — confirm before applying.
